Troubadour of God

St Francis of Assisi is a hero of mine.

More than any other person his life reflected the love and compassion of God as he sought to walk in the footsteps of Jesus. He saw himself as the troubadour of God singing the joyful song of God’s love in all his service to the lepers, poor and outcasts of his day. “ Preach Christ always and when necessary use words. “ He is an inspiration and role model for me and my prayer each day is to be an instrument of Gods love and peace. "Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; Where there is sadness, joy. O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek To be consoled as to console, To be understood as to understand, To be loved as to love; For it is in giving that we receive; It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; It is in dying to self that we are born to eternal life."
